Heroes of the 8th NEXT FRIDAY

This year marks the 50th anniversary since the start of the Vietnam War. This conflict was a challenging time for our country, with many service men and women experiencing public backlash upon returning home. To show his appreciation for their service and for the service of other veterans, Congressman Cook is hosting a special event called “Heroes of the 8th,” focusing this year on Vietnam veterans from California’s Eighth Congressional District.

This event will take place at 5:30PM on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Apple Valley. While this event is open to the public, we kindly ask that you RSVP by calling Congressman Cook’s Apple Valley District Office at (760) 247-1815.

Congressman Paul Cook Announces Local Support for CMORCA

The City of Twentynine Palms, the City of Banning, and the San Gorgonio Pass Regional Water Alliance announced their support for Congressman Cook’s bill, HR 3668, the California Minerals, Off-Road Recreation, and Conservation Act (CMORCA).

On behalf of the City of Banning, Mayor Deborah Franklin said, “We support this bill because it recognizes the importance of conservation and energy commitments, outlines recreational uses- including off-highway vehicle use, provides for thorough management strategies in land preservation, and benefits our region.”

Congressman Cook said, “I am glad to see continued community support for this bill. It responsibly preserves our majestic landscapes for future generations, addresses the needs of off-highway vehicle users, and protects economically vital mineral sites.”

The bill, which was introduced on October 1, 2015 presents a balanced approach to protecting, managing, and using public lands in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Inyo Counties. This bill deals with the management of existing federal land and would not result in an increase in federal landownership.
