 Rep. Paul Cook Hosts Ceremony Honoring Women From His District
 

WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley) hosted the first annual Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony this morning honoring women of the 8th Congressional District for their outstanding entrepreneurship, leadership, and integrity.

The event was held at the Apple Valley Town Hall Conference Center and featured honorees from communities throughout the district. Approximately 300 people attended the event which also included a performance by the Granite Hills High School Orchestra.

Said Rep. Cook, “I’m humbled by the opportunity to honor so many accomplished women. Each of the honorees has made significant contributions to their communities. This event was great way to honor their unique and important accomplishments. These talented women are very deserving of praise and I’m glad I was able to show my gratitude to them.”

A member of the House Armed Services, Veterans' Affairs, and Foreign Affairs Committees, Cook is a former educator who served as an infantry officer and retired as a Colonel after 26 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal with valor device and two Purple Hearts for actions in combat.
