Rep. Paul Cook to Host Ceremony Honoring Women From His District
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley) announced today that he is hosting the first annual Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony on August 23 to honor women from his district.
Rep. Cook is asking residents of his district to nominate deserving women who have given back to their communities. Nominations will be accepted until August 16 and can be submitted through his website at http://cook.house.gov/. Nominees must reside in California’s 8th Congressional District.
Said Rep. Cook, “There are many accomplished women in this district who don’t get the recognition they deserve. This event is an opportunity to recognize women throughout the district who have made significant contributions to their communities. It’s important that we honor these contributions, and I hope this will become an annual event.”
Anyone seeking more information about this event is urged to contact Rep. Cook’s Deputy District Director, Jeremy Smith, at 760-247-1815.
A member of the House Armed Services, Veterans' Affairs, and Foreign Affairs Committees, Cook is a former educator who served as an infantry officer and retired as a Colonel after 26 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal with valor device and two Purple Hearts for actions in combat.
