Congressman Cook Applauds U.S. Postal Service Decision to Maintain Six-Day Delivery
Bowing to congressional pressure, the U.S. Postal Service has decided to continue delivery of first-class mail six days per week. Congressman Cook and other lawmakers approved budget language in March requiring six-day delivery. In addition to approving this language, Cook took separate legislative action by co-sponsoring H. Res. 30, which urged the U.S. Postal Service to “take all appropriate measures to ensure the continuation of its 6-day mail delivery service.”
Said Cook, “I’m pleased to see that the Postal Service will continue to provide six-day mail delivery. In a large rural district like mine, people still rely heavily on the Postal Service for a variety of reasons, including delivery of medications. And for many, it’s their primary means of communication. Continuing Saturday service will mean their packages and mail will be delivered on time.”
