Rep. Paul Cook Announces Local Support for CMORCA

Oct 28, 2015
Press Release

WASHINGTON- Today, the City of Twentynine Palms, the City of Banning, and the San Gorgonio Pass Regional Water Alliance announced their support for Rep. Paul Cook’s (R- Apple Valley) bill, HR 3668, the California Minerals, Off-Road Recreation, and Conservation Act (CMORCA).

On behalf of the City of Banning, Mayor Deborah Franklin said, “We support this bill because it recognizes the importance of conservation and energy commitments, outlines recreational uses- including off-highway vehicle use, provides for thorough management strategies in land preservation, and benefits our region.”

Rep. Cook said, “I am glad to see continued community support for this bill. It responsibly preserves our majestic landscapes for future generations, addresses the needs of off-highway vehicle users, and protects economically vital mineral sites.”

The bill, which was introduced on October 1st, presents a balanced approach to protecting, managing, and using public lands in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Inyo Counties. This bill deals with the management of existing federal land and would not result in an increase in federal landownership.
